Carol Caruso , a resident of Grosse Ile , studied art at Miami University and is an alumnus of Wayne State Art Education Department.
As a retired drama director, art and history/social science teacher, Carol now pursues art for her own pleasure, with limited exclusive showings of her works and commissioned art. She continues to work with children and adults privately, helping them create, draw and paint.
Shefavors working in oils as well as acrylic paints. Her style ranges from very precise and defined contemporary images to broader strokes of still life and landscapes and, more recently, portraits. She regularly donates her time and inspirationaltalents in support of the arts, through local gallery exhibits, art shows and cultural events throughout Downriver and Southeastern Michigan.
Carol has exhibited and contributed art work at many "foundation and gala" events throughout metro Detroit, including For the Kids Foundation, Grosse Ile Educational Foundation, Grosse Ile Historical Society, Southern Great Lakes Symphony, U of M Children's Hospital Juvenile Diabetes Gala, Henry Ford Health Systems’ Harvest Moon Gala , the Josephine Ford Cancer Center Downriver and Oakwood Healthcare Foundation: Wine for Spirit, The Women’sHealth Care Center, OakwoodSouthshore and GIYC Leukemia Cup Regatta.
Carol’s limited prints and originals are in numerous private collections throughout the country and abroad . She has also received numerous awards for her art. She is a member of The Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, Downriver Council of the Arts, and Art Ambience. Carol resides on the island of Grosse Ile, MI, with her husband, Joe Caruso, author, business strategist and internationally acclaimed speaker. Hertime is spent painting, teaching, gardening and traveling the world with Joe.
